1000th anniversary of Genji Monogatari (Tales of Genji)

This year is 1000th anniversary of Genji Monogatari by Murasaki Shikibu. This 54 volume-novel is said that it is the first and oldest novel in Japan.
I read some famous chapters in original archaic Japanese at school, but actually I have not read all the vulumes ; I just have read some volumes translated in modern Japanese. I would like to read all the volumes some day, but not archaic ones. :( It is too difficult to understand. But still I can get the greatness of the novel even if I read translated one.
I have read the news that a picture scroll version of Genji Monogatari was made in Japanese embroidery for this anniversary and it took forty years to complete. I found the picture on the Net and the face of the girl looks cute. :)
